The VX402 detector is designed to be installed at a height of 1 meter and incorporates two sensing elements focused through two separate lenses. The top lens looks out parallel with the ground and the other is angled down by several degrees, both detectors need to activate to generate an alarm condition. The result is that cats, dogs, rabbits, foxes and birds etc. only ever active one sensor whilst a person due their size will activate both, generating an alarm condition. This is as close an alternative to active beam sets as you can get but with the benefit of a 12 x 12 meter field of protection. The VX402 is Compound's external detector of choice as it offers both good range and the lowest number of false alarms.
