There are several types of PIR's that can be used with the RLAS system. All the PIR's we use are produced by the world leaders in PIR technology, a company called Optex. We use these PIR's as they are the best in the world and are modified by our engineers with RF (Radio Frequency) technology so that they communicate with the control system.
The EX35 VP is a single beam PIR which although weather-proof, is only recommended for internal use. The VX402 VP, BX80N VP and the HX400RAM VP are all DUAL BEAM PIR's. Dual beam means that both beams must be interrupted in order to produce an activation. Essentially these PIR's when installed according to instructions, will not detect anything smaller than 1 meter tall, I.E. Dogs, cats, foxes, birds etc.
