Installing a Mosquito correctly can be difficult for two reasons. Firstly the majority of installation engineers are too old to hear if the unit is functioning and secondly, the sound emitted from the unit is highly directional. This means that the installation engineer has to ensure that the sound is going where it is needed. This is not as easy as it appears.
The PAA3 Hand Held Audio Analyser can be set-up to detect the 18KHz tone emitted by the Mosquito and provide a digital readout of the dB level. This means that the engineer can move around the area where the sound is required and check that there is sufficient dB level there. It is suggested that for the Mosquito to be most effective, levels need to be in excess of 75 dB.
