The Optex HX40 RAM VP Offers Exceptional External PIR Detection
The HX40 RAM again is a twin element detector where the beam pattern has been mathematically designed to ensure that once again it has a very high resistance to false activations generated by small animals and birds. Whilst not quite as capable as the VX402R it has the real world advantage of being installed at the 3m conventional height of a PIR. This ensures that is stays out of harms way whilst still providing a 12 x 12 meter field of protection.
Small Animal Immunity
Shared by 2 separate detection patterns (each using Optex's patented optical system), the HX40 RAM boasts a densely packed 94 zone detection area. These detection areas allow the HX40 RAM's target recognition process to work, resulting in market leading immunity to false alarm activations (e.g. small animals) and target capture:

Vegetation Sway Protection
The HX40 RAM uses technology which monitors the wavelength changes of the covered area at all times, automatically cancelling a signal caused by swaying vegetation:

Directional Control & Protective Hood
The HX40 RAM comes complete with an adjustable bracket allowing you to angle the sensor to wherever you need it. As shown in the diagram below (top view), the bracket can be adjusted 180 degrees horizontally and allows for free vertical movement enabling you to create coverage in any direction:

The HX40 RAM also includes an optional sun/weather visor allowing you to protect the PIR sensor from harsh environments. The visor enables protection from wind, rain and direct sunlight which may otherwise affect to lens surface:

Advanced Temperature Compensation logic
The dual signal processing circuit automatically increases the detector's sensitivity to adjust for background tempatures close to that of the human body (approx 25-40 deg C (59-94 deg F):

Summer Night Compensation logic
In addition to temperature compensation, the dual signal processing circuit compensates for severe environmental conditions such as summer evening and nights by measuring luminance levels. As the environment changes the HX40 RAM automatically sharpens its sensitivity to compensate:

PIR Sensitivity Adjustment
Catch performance can be set as required through the use of a selectable three position sensitivity switch and selectable pulse count adjustment. Detection area blanking plates are also supplied and can be utilized to prevent detection in any unwanted areas.
Accidental / Deliberate Damage Protection
The three meter mounting also allows the device to be mounted away from potential causes of accidental or deliberate damage and provides greater mounting flexibility.
