Mosquito ringtone
If you're tired of hearing your kids' cell phone ringing all the time, relax, there's a new ring tone kids can hear. And adults can't.
A lot of people think it's nothing more than a hoax -but it's true. A ringtone so high pitched, only young ears can hear it.
It might be the cure to all those annoying cell phone rings. It's called the mosquito ringtone, and was originally created to annoy kids and prevent them from crowding shopping malls. But now kids are once again outsmarting their parents and using the tone on their cell phones to get messages and calls, without their parents hearing a thing.
Dr. Rick A. Friedman is from the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles. "It's the upper end of the inner ear that seems to age first, so the older you are, the poorer you hear higher frequencies."
Well, for many kids, it's as much about pulling one over on their parents as getting the gossip that just can't wait 'til lunch.
