Blast of sound to move on young gangs
Blasts of high-pitched sound only audible to young people are to be used against yobs.
Police hope the initiative in Speke will persuade gangs of youths to move on instead of causing problems in the community. In the first area of Merseyside to get the Mosquito equipment, which resembles a security light and emits and ultra-sonic sound inaudible to adults.
A council spokesman said they were aware of concerns about civil liberties but research shows that the effects are not harmful.
